Emery Barracks
closed as barracks since 1992
Back then: The barracks buildings date from the 1930s.
In 1938 the Wehrmacht barracks were renamed “Adolf Hitler Barracks”.
After World War II they were taken over by the Americans under the name Emery Barracks.
The military area housed the ADA (Air Defense Artillery), an air defense unit with missile positions on the Pfaffenberg.
The last US soldiers left Emery Barracks in 1992.
Today: The complex has served as a home for asylum seekers for the Free State of Bavaria since 1992.
There is still little to remind us today that this was a barracks for the Americans until 1990, and originally for the Wehrmacht.
